Having a predecessor in Karl Lagerfeld would be a tall order, many would agree. Three years into his tenure at Fendi, Kim Jones has clearly embraced the opportunity to great effect. His latest foray for the Roman fashion house comes in the shape of a collection not of his own making, but that of his friend and designer Stefano Pilati. This collection has been produced under the “Friends of Fendi” banner, a series introduced by Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi to produce collections in collaboration with other designers, houses, and organizations that are distinct from the main line. The advertising campaign by photographer Collier Schorr features a cast of bright young things including Tyler Goulden. “What a treat,” exclaims Tyler about his involvement. The wool suit, floral shirt, and the curled coif by hair stylist Cim Mahony that Tyler sports (pictured) signals just the sort of freedom that is integral to the Roman style. And Tyler of course pulls it off, which in the post-Lagerfeld era is just about what is required.
